Thrashing of cops: Incident serves as an eye opener for those ‘more loyal than the king’, says Hurriyat

Srinagar: Huriyat Conference on Saturday said that the thrashing of police personnel by army men in Ganderbal is an eye opener that even men in uniform are not secure and illustrates the grave situation the common civilians in state are facing.

“It serves a bitter lesson for those officials and officers who for medals & material gains behave as “more loyal than king,” said a Ayaz Akbar, spokesman of the Hurriyat.

Akbar said that these army personals under their notion of ‘’national interest’’ treat every Kashmiri including these police personnel as creatures and don’t feel any shame while inflicting brutalities on Kashmiris.

Akbar, while ridiculing the statement of former chief minister Omer Abdullah, wherein he has demanded punishment for erring army personnel, said that these arrogant forces  even after committing act of murder can’t be prosecuted because they enjoy license under the garb of ASPA & Disturbed Area Act.

He reminded Omer Abdullah about an incident in year 1980 and said that when a large contingent of forces came out from Tattoo Ground and thrashed people to pulp and ransacked properties worth millions.

Akbar said that at that time Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was managing the state affairs, but he could do nothing though no AFSPA like law was in force.
