Get Hurriyat leaders released or resign: Rasheed to Mehbooba

Srinagar: MLA Langate Engineer Rashid on Tuesday asked the Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti to either get the seven arrested Hurriyat leaders released from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody, or resign.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have given a call for complete strike/shutdown tomorrow on July 25 to protest the ‘revengeful arbitrary and illegal arrests’ of Hurriyat leaders.

Asking Mehbooba either to get back seven Hurriyat Leaders from NIA custody or resign, Rasheed has accused main stream parties of disgracing Kashmiris and destroying their self respect.

“Rasheed reminded Mehbooba Mufti of her agenda of alliance with the BJP, wherein she used to claim everyday about talking to Hurriyat,” the statement from the lawmaker Rasheed said.

He Said “New Delhi has crossed all limits and it is not question of arresting Huriyat leaders but attacking credibility and self respect of entire Kashmiri nation. In fact the main stream parties have destroyed their own image by changing colors”.

Er. Rasheed lashed out at Farooq Abdullah accusing him of being the worst hypocrite and anti Kashmiri for his changing stance.

He said “May Farooq Abdullah answer what was the logic behind asking people to support Hurriyat and even offering himself to join Hurriyat conference last year. But now when enjoying perks and privileges in New Delhi, Farooq Abdullah feels no shame in abusing and accusing Hurriyat.”

“Let every Kashmiri read the true face of Farooq Abdullah who is now asking NIA to find how from Huriyat has managed even a single penny,” he added.

He asked NIA and other agencies that “before attacking Hurriyat should somebody ask main stream parties where from they do manage huge election funding and after assuming power create countless assets. Rasheed asked Mehbooba to either ensure honorable release of Hurriyat leaders from NIA custody or she must resign “without further excuses.”

On June 29, the NIA had declared the case “as good as closed”.

The agency has found that all transactions through these bank accounts were legitimate and not connected in any way to terror funding.

“No evidence of terror funding or financial aid to stone-pelters has been found in that case. All bank accounts that were brought under the scanner have been found to have had legitimate business transactions. That case is as good as closed,” a senior NIA had officer said.
