Army kills three suspected militants along LoC in Gurez: Defence spokesperson

Srinagar: The Indian Army on Thursday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing three militants in Gurez valley of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar-based defence spokesperson, Col. Rajesh Kalia said three militants were killed after army foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez.

Northern Command of the Indian Army from its official twitter handle tweeted: Infiltration bid eliminated in Gurez Sector. Three terrorists killed. Ops in progress @adgpi”

Kalia said that the operation was in progress.

According to a news report in Kashmir Life, an news website, an official said that a group of 3-6 militants tried to sneak into this side of Line of Control (LoC) last night.

“Army’s 13 Sikh regiment guarding the LoC near Bagtore area of Gurez noticed their movement. The militants opened fire after they were challenged. During the operation, three militants were killed,” he said.

“The operation against terrorists is still on,” Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said at 11.45 am.
