Police says news story about ‘beating of militant family in Qoimoh’ is baseless

Srinagar: District Police administration while reacting to the news has said that the news report is baseless, concocted and far from the truth and is therefore rebutted.

The administration in an e-mail sent to the media said that mischief  mongers, in order to derail some serious terror crime investigations in the district, are behind such malicious campaign.

The family members had earlier alleged that government forces resorted to shelling in Rampora village of Qaimoh before barging inside their house around 3am.

“They smashed the windowpanes, thrashed men, women and kids during the raid,” alleged a family member.

“They didn’t even spare a baby,” the family member added.  The family also alleged that men in uniform damaged their property during the nocturnal raid.

Pertinently, suspected militants shot dead a cop Gowahar Ahmed Tantray of Kujjar near Yaripora Kulgam on Wednesday evening when he was heading towards his destination on a motor bike.

Locals had alleged that police have picked up relatives of some militants from the area for questioning. They added that the brother of a militant who is a doctor by profession has also been called to the police station for questioning.
