Four Hurriyat members sent to 14-day judicial custody

New Delhi: Four Hurriyat members on Monday were send to a 14-day judicial custody by a court in New Delhi.

During the in-camera proceedings, Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma send Nayeem Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah to judicial custody till August 28.

They were presented before the court after the expiry of their 10-day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.

On July 24, the NIA arrested Altaf Ahmad Shah, son-in-law of Hurriyat (G) leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Others who were arrested are Shahid-ul-Islam, a close aide and media advisor of Hurriyat (M) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Ayaz Akbar, the spokesperson for the Geelani-led Hurriyat.

They were arrested by the NIA on July 24 on charges of criminal conspiracy and waging war against India.
