Michelle Obama, the last first lady of the United States of America (USA), wore a floral gown with Kashmiri embroidery, for the Cuban dinner last year on Mr. Obamas’s visit to Cuba.

It is not happening for the first time, when political celebrities were seen wrapped in Kashmiri drapes and drenched in Kashmir’s color.

In 2000, the then President of USA, Bill Clinton on his visit to India pulled over outside a handicraft showroom. The eye catching art made him buy some handicraft items.

Hillary Clinton, is known to be an ardent shopper of Kashmir’s merchandise. Hillary is quite often seen purchasing Kashmiri Handicraft, carpets, shawls, pherans, of which she is very fond.

A family friend and a prominent Kashmiri businessman Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, has been her shopper’s stop, and his showroom has shipped out ample Kashmiri embroidery apparels and carpet till date.

This show of Kashmir’s art by such personalities has crafted a good international market for ‘made in Kashmir’ products, and made them sell like hot cakes internationally.

It has been a long time since the word ‘Kashmiri’ has entered the wardrobe of many internationally known and influential personalities.

A seven time Oscar nominee English actor, Judi Dench wore a Pashtoosh Shawl with white embroidery. Looking all radiant, Dench paired the Kashmiri Shawl with a black velvet coat that dazzled the premiere of New York’s second best Exotic Marigold Hotel in 2015.

Not only international celebrities, but people from Bollywood celebrities like Anushka Sharma, have also been seen putting on Kashmiri attire, with handcrafted Kashmiri embroidery on the skirt.

Katrina Kaif was seen in an Anarkaali dress with Kashmiri thread-work, Twinkle Khanna wore a Shahtoosh Shawl and Deepika Padukone was seen wearing a blazer with Ari Embriodery.

Duchess of Cornwall Camilla was seen wearing crimson Pashmina Stole in 2015, when Camilla presented the Man Booker prize in London, at the Guildhall.
