Bullet train will add ‘speed to the growth of India’, reduce distances between people: Modi

New Delhi: Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of the first bullet train between Ahmedabad in Gujarat to Mumbai in the state of Mahastrashtra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the bullet train project “will add speed to India’s growth” ,shorten the distance between people and places” and “increase productivity thanks to high speed connectivity”.

Both Abe and Modi, after laying the foundation stone for the high speed rail, said that the project will be a huge boost for the ‘Make in India’ goal.

“This project exemplifies a new India and is an expression of its dreams, its flight is limitless, its aspirations infinite, it’s an India that is flying high,” said PM Modi after the foundation stone laying ceremony.

“I hope to enjoy the beauty of India through the windows of the bullet train when I come to India in a few years,” said Japan’s PM.

PM Modi effusively thanked Abe and Japan.

 

Meanwhile, a coach of the Jammu-Rajhdhani Express derailed at the New Delhi station on Thursday morning. However, there were no reports of any casualties or injuries to the passengers.
