Grenade attack: As Tral shuts to mourn civilian killings, MLA demands ‘fair investigation’

Militants also condemned it, so I demand a fair investigation: MLA Tral

Srinagar: A complete shutdown was observed in south Kashmir’s Tral town against the civilian killings in a grenade blast on Thursday.
All the shops, business houses, schools remained closed while traffic was also off the roads.

There was visible anger among the people over the grenade attack in which two people died including one elderly and a university student. Around 30 persons including some forces personnel received injuries who were later shifted to different hospitals for the special treatment.

Police said the grenade attack was aimed at the cavalcade of PDP leader and R&B minister Naeem Akhtar, who was in the town. The incident was widely condemned by all the political parties.

Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen also condemned the incident and termed it a handiwork of agencies. However, it is not yet known who is behind the attack.

Talking to KNS, MLA Tral Mushtaq Shah condemned the gruesome attack saying what has now come out of it. “It snatched head of one family head and future of another family,” he said.

He demanded a fair investigation into the incident. “I don’t know who has done. Since militant organisations have also condemned it, I want the government to investigate the matter,” he said.

“On the ground, what I come to know that there were no adequate security measures put in place. “It can be a security lapse as well,” he said.

Shah said the concern is that since all the militant outfits have condemned it, then who is behind such attack. “And why would militants play a negative role with respect to the development. So I want fair probe into it,” he added.
