NIA summons Geelani’s son again

Srinagar: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has again summoned Syed Naseem Geelani to its headquarters in New Delhi for questioning, sources said.

“He has been called again on 25th of September, 2017 to NIA headquarters, New Delhi,” a statement of the members of Faculty of Forestry, Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir said on Friday.

Naseem, the son of pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani was first summoned and questioned by NIA from 8th of August to 11th of August, 2017. His second round of questioning was done from 24th of August to 30th of August this year.

NIA is investigating an alleged funding case registered in May 30 this year.

The investigation agency has so far arrested seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist regarding the investigation.

Earlier the National Investigation Agency (NIA) hady questioned Naeem Geelani and Naseem Geelani, sons of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, in connection with the ongoing probe into the alleged terror funding case.

The two brothers had appeared at the NIA headquarters in central Delhi. Beside Geelani’s sons, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a pro-freedom activist, was also questioned by the counter-terror agency.

The NIA had also summoned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal to appear before it. The arrested include Geelani’s son-in-law Altaf Shah, Nayeem Khan, Aftab Hilali Shah better known as Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar Khandey, Peer Saifullah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Farooq Ahmad Dar better known as Bitta Karate.
