KTMF, KEA hail Kashmir for supporting strike call against NIA summons

Srinagar: Thanking people of Kashmir, particularly the business community, for making successful the strike call against summons issued by NIA to prominent business leader Muhammad Yasin Khan on Monday, the Kashmir Inc today said “unity was the need of the hour” and that the strength of the common man has been displayed.

In a joint statement, the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation and the Kashmir Economic Alliance headed by M. Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan said the support from the business fraternity including transporters has been overwhelming and has proved that “we are one family united for a common cause.”

Reiterating that the Kashmir Inc was not against the NIA investigations but against their tactics of investigations, the Kashmir Inc said such methods as adopted by the New Delhi would only lead to further chaos and destruction of the business sector in the trouble-torn region.

“Why Kashmir Inc is inseparable from K-issue is essential because it‘s always the business community, which bears the brunt of the fallout. So we cannot be mute spectators but will continue to be the independent voice seeking resolution through dialogue and not war,” the KEA said.

Meanwhile, the KEA, KTMF and other forums held daylong protests at the Pratap Park here when Mr. Haji Muhammd Yasin Khan was being questioned in New Delhi by the NIA.

Scores of business leaders put forth their viewpoint on the issue and condemned the NIA for having unduly summoned Mr. Khan to New Delhi when the investigations could be held in Kashmir.

The business leaders pledged to be united in this hour of crises. “Today it’s Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan, and tomorrow it will be all of us, one by one. So we need to be united,” the speakers said.
