NIA summons: ‘Today it is Aala, tomorrow it could be us’, say KU students

Srinagar: A protest was organised by the students of the Kashmir University on Tuesday against the summoning by the NIA, of Aala Fazili, a PHD scholar and a student leader.

The protest was organised in the campus of the university where many students came together and assembled in the Humanities block lawn.

“It was a big gathering. Both boys and girls were present,” said a student of the university present at the protest.

Those present protested against summoning of Aala Fazili by the NIA.

“Slogans were raised against the NIA summons and some pro-freedom summons were also raised.” says a student of the university.

Aala Fazili is a PHD Scholar of pharmacy and a student leader.

Calling the silence of the administration over the summons ‘criminal’, the students also protested against the silence of the authorities.

“The silence of the university authorities at KU is criminal. Today it is Aala, tomorrow it could be any other student from KU,” says Kaiser, a student at the university.

“We will continue protesting until the summons are stopped,” another student said.

“We are expecting the KU administration to take a stand at least now,” said Adnan, another student.

According to the students, the protests lasted for over an hour and the parade was carried out throughout the campus, halting at the Humanities block.

The KUSU members further said that they will continue protests if the summons are not stopped.
