Alleged terror funding case: NIA raids house of Hizb chief’s son

Srinagar: A National Investigation team raided the house of Shahid Yousuf, son of Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin, at round 4.30 am. They left after a couple of hours.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided the house of Shahid Yousuf, son of Hizb ul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, in Soibugh village of Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An NIA team raided the residence of Yousuf around 4:30 am and left after couple of hours, sources said. A laptop and five mobile phones of the family members were taken by the NIA team.

The team had brought female members to check the females of the house.

Two days prior, Yousuf was arrested by the agency in connection with the alleged terror funding case. He has been sent to a seven day NIA custody by a Delhi court.

The NIA alleges that Shahid used to receive funds through a US-based international wire transfer company from Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, another accused in the case who is absconding and is reported to be based in Saudi Arabia.

The agency has alleged that Shahid was “one of several Indian contacts of Bhat” who had been in telephonic contact with him for receiving money transfer codes.

The NIA has claimed that so far Shahid has received a total of nearly Rs 4.5 lakh through eight international wire transfers.
