Srinagar: The policy planning group of Congres lead by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to arrive in the state on a four-day visit on November 10, the party said in a statement on Friday.

“The policy planning group will visit Jammu and Kashmir next month. The group will arrive in Srinagar on November 10,” the statement  said.

The group had visited the state twice last month and held interactions with dozens of groups, including representatives of political parties, traders and journalists, in Jammu and Srinagar, but the Ladakh visit of the group had not been finalized at that time, the statement pointed out.

“This time, the group members, to be led by former Union home minister P Chidambaram, will visit Kargil and Leh also to hold interactions with various groups, political and social organizations, including trade bodies, to take stock of the overall socio-political scenario in the state,” the party spokesperson said.

The Government of India recently appointed the former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma as an interlocutor to initiate a dialogue with all stakeholder including the Hurriyat leaders to solve the Kashmir issue.

Sharma, in a interview with a news agency said that the youth of Kashmir have to be de-radicalized otherwise the valley will turn in Syria. He added that he will convince the youth that they are ruining their future by demanding what they call Azadi (Freedom).
