Airport authority cancels tender for liquor shop at Srinagar International Airport, Tender still open on website

Srinagar: After condemnation from various quarters, the Excise department has reportedly refused to grant permission for opening up of liquor shop at Srinagar International Airport. The Airports Authority of India (AII) has canceled the tender process of duty paid liquor shop with immediate effect.

Director Airport Authority of India, Srinagar Sharad Kumar told a Kashmir based daily newspaper, The Kashmir Monitor over phone that they have cancelled the tender process.

According to the official handout AAI, “it is observed through social media/media that a section of society is against having duty paid liquor shop at Srinagar International Airport and honouring local sentiments, Airports Authority of India (AII) has decided to cancel the tender process of duty paid liquor shop with immediate effect.”
