Jammu: The members of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) met the interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma on Friday. JCCI, in a detailed memorandum conveyed to the government’s special representative that Rohingyas should be deported as they are major threat to the national security.
Sharma, who finished his valley tour yesterday on the note that he was ‘very satisfied’ with what he did.
The Jammu Chamber has also demanded that a township should be build for West Pakistan Refugees as is being done for Kashmiri Pandits.
“Our heads bow down in shame and embarrassment when we see the plight of West Pakistan Refugees whom we have not been able to give basic rights, dignity and and a postal address. We suggest that a town- ship be created at an appropriate place on the same pattern as done in case of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants so that we could at least give them basic amenities guaranteed by the constitution of India as has been desired by one and all across India,” the memorandum read.
In the memorandum, the Jammu Chamber also notes that silent migration of population of ‘nationalists’ from Jammu region to other parts of the country is on account of non-inclusion of the nationalists in the political dialogue as well as the unemployment factor.
The Chamber strongly feels that nothing till date has been done to address the issues of the nationalists but only the separatists’ appeasement policy was followed.
The Jammu Chamber has also vouched for facilitation of dialogue between the youth of all the three regions.
The Chamber also informed Sharma that unemployment in the state is a major issue which should be addressed.
The memorandum also pointed out that the people of Jammu have a sense of ‘political exclusion’ since independence as ‘pestering’ issues related to the region have not been addressed.

We have been constantly and repeatedly requesting the Ministry of Home Affairs to enforce laws relating to use of PI systems at all religious places which we feel are major source of trouble and may lead to communal provocation but nothing has been done in this direction till date.
Post demonetization, we fear that the random notices sent and being sent to the assesses by Income tax department without matching deposits of demonetized currency in the banks with the turnover may lead to major source of harassment to the assesses and corruption by the Babus and ultimately translate into mass unrest that needs to be looked at carefully.
That the development of Tourist spots in Jammu region is still like a dream and we strongly suggest that these be created on fast track basis with special focus on BSF Parade at Suchetgarh border on the pattern of Waga on urgent basis.
The 80 thousand crores package announced by the Prime Minister two years back for our state needs transparency in terms of the different projects that were sanctioned so that the people of the State know what the Government of India has sanctioned.
Immediately after 2010 turmoil in the state Panchyat and Local body elections were announced as a part of three tier system of democratic governance which would have involved the people at micro level giving them feeling of empowerment that would have changed their mind set towards political integration system and integration with rest of the country.
There should be a consistent policy for peace and development of our state and the recommendations of the interlocutors or working groups should not be just pieces of paper but treated as aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and effective steps be taken to address them.
