‘NC has fielded a junior turncoat like Mattu to hurl invectives on Geelani’

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a joint statement strongly condemned that statement of National Conference regarding Syed Ali Geelani.

National Conference Spokesman Junaid Mattu in a statement had said that Geelani should formally join the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Ex-MLA Geelani is accountable to the people of Kashmir for his failure to convert thousands of sacrifices into a concrete, acceptable resolution. He has a personal political history as a former MLA that defied his moral sermons about the mainstream,” Mattu had said in a statement.

In the joint statement, JKLF and Hurriyat said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani is a respected and senior resistance leader and fielding a junior turncoat like Junaid Matoo on the job of hurling invectives on him reflects the moral bankruptcy of such people.

The statement added that NC has been out of power for a long time and is writhing like a fish without water. s

“Hence employing its signature underhand and malicious ways and means of realizing that cherished ambition, they are displaying total insensitivity and disregard for the suffering and sacrifices of the people and their sacred freedom struggle,” the statement pointed out.

They said that as part of their single point “kursi Wapsi” agenda, NC is once again playing dirty politics to gain some space, part of which is to divert attention from the main issue and the consequent repression on people, by maligning and defaming the leadership representing and associated with the resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the people’s will and based on principles.
