Three LeT militants killed in a gunfight in Handwara: Police

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed that they have killed three Lashkar militants in na gun fight in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

In a tweet, the Director General of Police SP Vaid said, “Three militants of the LeT were killed in the Area of Handwara today. Excellent work.”

Reports said that the gunfight started after the army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and the CRPF launched a joint search operation in Khar Mohalla on Tuesday morning.

“As the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering off a gunfight,” they said.

In the gunfight, three militants were killed.

Recently in a major breakthrough in Hajin, six Lashkar militants were killed including the nephew of LeT chief Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. Forces in a press conference claimed that the top leadership of the Lashkar has been largely decimated in that operation.
