Pulwama: A local youth from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has reportedly taken possession of the assault rifle of one of the slain militants killed in Central Kashmir gunfight today.

Four militants were killed yesterday in a fierce gun battle in Budgam district.

Top sources said that after the culmination of gunfight at Futlipora village in Pakharpora Budgam, when a combing operation was launched, large number of youth mostly from adjoining areas of district Pulwama pelted stones on the Government Forces.

If top sources are to be believed, shortly after Government Forces retreated from the encounter site, large number of people visited the site where one of the youth found an AK 47 rifle of the slain militant from the debris.

Sources added that the youth is the son of a late police constable who after finding the weapon, fled from the scene.

“In a bid to nab the youth along with the assault rifle, government forces launched a search operation in different villages of Pulwama district including Karimabad, Wahibugh, Frisipora, Chewa and other villages, however the suspected youth was not tracked and nabbed,” said a top source.

Police however denied any information regarding the incident.
