NC’s Kaiser Jamsheed Lone leads anti-Govt protest in Kupwara

Urges Governor to look into ‘Govt failures’

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) on Saturday staged a protest against the government failing to provide basic facilities to the people.

Led by National Conference (NC) district president Kupwara and former MLC Kaiser Jamsheed Lone assembled at MLA hostel Kupwara and marched towards the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office amid anti-government sloganeering.

The protesters later presented memorandum to Governor N. N. Vohra through DC Kupwara, urging him to look into the problems being faced by the people.

“The present dispensation has failed to provide basic facilities to the people. The government is nowhere on the ground and has left people of Kupwara district to suffer,” Lone said.

He said that the basic facilities including electricity, water, ration and other things has become a dream for the people. “The people here are facing immense hardships in absence of these facilities,” he added.

He said that the work plan formulated as per the demands of the people was not approved while the approved work plans are being set to provide benefits to the ‘blue-eyed’ contractors.

“The people are being given assurances after they demand any developmental work in their area but later are being betrayed. The developmental works being done in the district are only aimed to provide benefits to the blue-eyes persons,” he said.

Lone said that they, in a memorandum, have urged the Governor to look into the matter and redress the problems being faced by the locals at the earliest.
