In order to stay in power, PDP used pellets, chemical weapons on civilians: Hurriyat

Srinagar: While reiterating their demand of releasing all political prisoners, Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday said that the PDP in order to stay in power used pellets and chemical weapons on innocent civilians.

While accusing PDP for playing deceitful politics, Hurriyat said that hypocrisy and treachery is the trait of PDP.

“Since the inception of PDP, they are following dictates from Nagpur and there seems no let-up in pellets and bullets. Though pellet gun and chemical weapons are specifically used against wild animals, however PDP in order to remain in power corridors and appease their masters, used these weapons against innocent and unarmed civilians,” Hurriyat alleged in a statement.

The statement added, “Their rhetoric for battle of ideas, is nothing but a hoax and instead of that they caged people and strangulated their genuine voices. Slapping PSA against its opponents and youth is their favourite game, “said Hurriyat.

Hurriyat expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating condition of prisoners, saying they are being subjected to political vendetta and no proper medical treatment is provided to ailing detainees.

Hurriyat conference while referring to all political detainees said that during the people’s uprising in 2016, state authorities arrested thousands while as PSA was slapped against six hundred people.

“More than 300 activists are still languishing in different detention centres and police lockups,’’ said Huriyat in the statement.

The statement said that people bailed out by the courts are not being released.

“On one or the other pretext their detention period is prolonged and those bailed out by judiciary are rearrested by police and detained again on fictitious charges and PSA is slapped on them.

“World community has declared public safety act as black law and people and political activists are being subjected to vengeance which has turned the situation in state volatile and extremely explosive,” the statement added.
