Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned the re-arrest of Dukhtaran-e-Milat chairperson Asiya Andrabi, despite court quashing her PSA.

In a statement Geelani said, “Asiya is unwell and is suffering from many ailments but puppet rulers claiming to represent a democratic coalition have most democratically kept her incarcerated, only for raising voice for suppressed people’s right.”

Meanwhile, Geelani on Friday completed eight years under house detention.

The spokesperson said that no court has ever issued any formal detention order for Geelani. Spokesperson strongly condemned the house detention of Geelani and said that the rule of law has been thrown to dust in Kashmir.

The Hurriyat spokesperson added that stopping pro-freedom leaders from performing their religious, political and social responsibilities is gross violation of human rights and interference in the personnel and religious rights.

He further added, “Police authorities have so far failed to produce any court order or any administrative document in support of this illegal detention. What is the justification in turning his residence into a sub-jail.”

“Nobody and not even media can meet him,” said spokesman and terming these curbs as state terrorism, added that such cowardice acts are unjustified, unethical and illogical.
