Srinagar: Two protesting youth were detained by the police after Jammu and Kashmir Youth Civil Society staged a protest against the ill treatment of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar Jail.

The protesting youth urged the international community to stress upon India to stop mistreating Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners seeking release of political prisoners. One of the banners read: “Tihar Jail is worst than Abu Gharib and Guantanamo jails.”

“We registered this protest against the ill-treatment of political prisoners in India’s Tihar Jail. Even medical aid is denied to them,” said one of the protesters.

The demonstration was interrupted by police after which a couple of youth were detained. The arrested protesters were lodged in police station Kothi Bagh.
