Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Syedah Aasiya Andrabi and her close aide Fhmeeda Sofi were set free from Srinagar central jail today.

She was booked under Public-Safety Act after being arrested on April 26 2016 during a midnight raid from her residence by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Andrabi was presented before the additional magistrate in Srinagar last week who quashed her PSA and set her free in the courtroom itself, however, she was re-arrested by the police.

Later, she was driven to the Central Jail Srinagar from where she was set free today.

A spokesperson of Dukhtaran confirmed that Andrabi and Fahmeeda were released on bail.

On December 23, 2017, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani had strongly condemned the re-arrest of Asiya Andrabi, despite court quashing her PSA.
