Jaish-e-Mohammad claims responsibility of Sopore attack

Srinagar: Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed the responsibility for an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Sopore town on Saturday that left four policemen dead.

In a statement issued to news agency GNS, Jaish-e-Mohammad spokesperson claimed, “The Shaheed Afzal Guru squad carried out the attack.”

The spokesperson claimed that five forces’ personnel were killed and several others suffered injuries in the attack.

The attack came on the day when the apple town is observing a complete shutdown to mark the anniversary of 1993 massacre.

57 civilians were killed after paramilitary BSF men opened indiscriminate fire on January 6, 1993.
