Opposition corners government over civilian killings, walks out from Assembly

Jammu: The opposition parties, National Conference and Congress on Wednesday castigated the government over the killing of a civilian in Khudwani area of Kulgam on Tuesday.

After raising anti-government slogans, the entire opposition jumped into the well of the house, and later staged a walkout over the issue.

The sloganeering started as soon as the speaker was about to start the proceedings of the house. The opposition members demanded that the government should act in order to stop civilian killings.

“Every day there is a killing in Kashmir. You should come clear on your position,” senior NC leader Ali Muhammad Sagar told the House.

The members of the opposition raised slogans- “innocent killing bandh karo, Qaatil Sarkar Haai haai, HR violation ko bandh karo.”

Senior NC leader and MLA Nagrota Devender Rana cornered the government while saying that all the three regions of the state are suffering due to the failure of the present government.

Kashmir Jal raha hai, Jammu Sulag Raha hai aur Ladakh Ro Raha hai (Kashmir is burning, Jammu is simmering and Ladakh is weeping),” the NC leader told the house.

He added, “All the three regions of the state are burning and government is acting as a mute spectator,” he said.
