You have no moral right to rule if civilian killings are not an issue for you: Omar to Govt

Jammu: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday came down heavily on the government on the issue of civilian killings.

The National Conference Working President said that the government has no moral right to rule if they think that civilian killings is not an issue.

“If the government thinks that civilian killings are not an issue then this government has no moral responsibility to rule,” he said.

While accusing the government of ‘killing civilians’, Omar said that the 22-year old boy who was killed in Khudwani, had no gun.

“Yesterday, this person who was killed hadn’t picked up any gun. He had bullet in his throat. Even the ruling minister acknowledged it. Are bullets fired on the ground or air? We wanted to ask the CM,” he stressed.

Omar while admitting that such incidents took place during his government too, he said that he knows what kind of pain is caused by such killings.

“Today on the killing, we sought answer from government. We, instead of reading it in newspapers, wanted the CM to condemn the same in the assembly. But she didn’t come. She came in the house when I took up the issue,” he pointed out.
