IED recovered in HMT area of the city, diffused: Police

Srinagar: Personnel of the 44 Battalion of the CRPF found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the HMT areas of Srinagar.

Traffic movement on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway was disrupted after the explosive was found.

Reports said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, 2 RR of army and Bomb Disposal squad reached the spot and THE explosive was diffused.

“The IED was defused by the bomb disposal squad without causing any damage,” said the police.

Recently, four policemen were killed in a powerful IED explosion in Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad had claimed responsibility for the attack.

The improvised explosive device (IED) was planted near a shop in a market, which was closed in response to a strike called by the Resistance leaders to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sopore massacre.
