Urges party cadres to gear up for Panchayat elections

Srinagar: Lashing out at ruling PDP-BJP dispensation for failures on all counts, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief G.A. Mir urged upon the cadres to take on PDP BJP, exposing them for adopting double standards for the sake of power, saying that PDP is in habit of using different languages to mislead people to get benefitted politically. G.A.Mir was addressing a largely attended workers meeting in Srinagar.

Addressing the meeting, JKPCC Chief hit out at PDP saying that they have been changing colours like a chameleon for the sake of power and sacrificed ideology and joined hands with communal and fascist forces for the sake of power, as a result, people were feeling exploited and betrayed.

He said that PDP BJP cannot escape the responsibility of damages caused to peace process, as that, both the Parties have exploited people for power, responsible for restlessness and mistrust among the people.

Urging Party cadres to gear up for Panchayat Polls being conducted shortly, G.A. Mir said Congress Party is committed to strengthen the democratic institutions of the state, but at the same time, he blamed the ruling dispensation for playing with the democratic process in the State, which has lost relevance under PDP BJP rule, adding that Congress Party will ensure that the authority of democratic institutions are not eroded.

“This Party (PDP) with the fear of losing Anantnag Lok Sabha ensured deferment of Parliamentary Elections on the pretext of deteriorating situation, now the ruling Parties are going to hold Panchayat Elections, but I want to ask the Govt as to what measures it will take to ensure safety and security of the contestants, for the fact, the situation in Kashmir valley has further deteriorated. This Govt cannot be trusted because it will anytime escape or take U-Turn after sensing defeat in these elections also,” Mir said.
