Rs.12.38 cr collected as rent against land occupied by forces in Kashmir: Mehbooba

Jammu: The Defence Establishment has paid Rs.12.38 crore as rent per annum against the land occupied by them in Jammu and Kashmir, revealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the Lower House of the Assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Shopian Muhammad Yousuf Bhat, The Chief Minister,w ho also holds the Home portfolio informed that an amount of Rs. 4.5 Lakh was paid as rent in the summer capital Srinagar.

Rs 1.19 crore was collected in Budgam and 3.06 crore in Baramulla as rent against private land per annum.

Also, an amount of Rs 40.89 crores was paid annually in Bandipora, Rs 2.46 crore in Pulwama and Rs 1.24 crore in Anantnag.

“Rs 3.59 lacs are paid in Kulgam, Rs 2.48 crore in Kupwara and Rs 18.79 was paid by forces in Ganderbal per annum as rent against private land,” Mehbooba informed.

The reply also mentioned that Rs. 52801 was paid in Shopian, Rs 41.04 lacs in Leh and Rs 83.20 lacs were paid per annum by army in Kargil district.
