AIP workers protest against ‘manhandling’ of party leader Rashid in Assembly

Srinagar: The supporters of Kashmir legislator Engineer Rashid Tuesday staged a protest seeking probe into the misbehaving and thrashing of their leader in State Assembly at Jammu.

Rashid has decided to boycott the ongoing Budget Session after ‘not only being humiliated by the Speaker, opposition legislators and Marshalls but was also being thrashed and abused in the Assembly’.

A large number of his supporters took out a march from Municipal Park to Press Enclave in Srinagar. They were carrying placards and banners expressing solidarity with their party leader Rashid.

While talking to reporters, the supporters of Kashmir legislator alleged that their voice is being muzzled and they are not being allowed to express themselves freely.

“Our leader was humiliated in the Assembly for raising the voice of people. National Conference members Muhammad Akbar Lone and Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi showered choicest invectives on Rashid while the Marshalls on the instructions of Speaker manhandled him,” the protesting workers said while raising slogans against Muhammad Akbar Lone and Nazir Gurezi.

The protesting workers also raised slogans against National Conference and People’s Democratic Party.

They alleged that Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has become a graveyard where only dead reside who are devoid of any sentiments and feelings.
