DDC seeks public support for strict implementation on HC order banning polythene

Seeks to create awareness among the general public at their own level.

Kupwara: The District Magistrate Khalid Jahangir today convened a joint meeting of officers from district, Sub-district administrations, traders federation, civil society members to discuss the matters related to court directions regarding ban on the use of polythene bags and garbage products in the district.

He sought suggestions from officers, civil society members, traders community to save the environment, human health, glory of the district, forests, natural water bodies and other concerned due to polythene hazards.

In this connection, several teams of officers in collaboration with traders federations, Pollution Control Board, Municipal Committees, Revenue, Rural Development, Education were formulated to monitor the “special Anti-Polythene Drive” launched in the district.

DMK impressed upon all stakeholders to implement the court orders followed by the complete ban on polythene bags in the district and to create awareness among the general public at their own level.

On this occasion, all Tehsildars and concerned officers were asked to implement the ban orders of DM on polythene bags strictly in their respective jurisdictions, besides dumping of garbage and polythene seizers be handed over to Pollution Control Board against proper receipt.
