1,00,501 casual labourers, others have been regularized through Aadhaar: Govt

Jammu: The Government on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that 100501 casual labourers and others have been regularized through the online biometric identification Aadhaar.

The Minister in-charge of Finance, on behalf of the government was reply to the charges made by National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar that a 91-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman has been included in the list of candidates to be regularized.

The minister also asserted that the list is only data based and any anomaly or mistake found would be rectified.

The government further added that in the Order No. 126-F of 20916 dated 28,04.2016, it was ordered to carry out Aadhaar based bio-metric identification of various types of workers which, among others, include part-time sweepers in different departments, particularly in health and medical education department and school education department.

“SRO 520 dated 21.12.2017 lays down that the empowered committee shall also consider the cases of such bonafide CSLWs whose names could not be registered on the relevant NIC portal after the administrative department concerned gives valid, justifiable and cogent grounds of their non-inclusion,” the government has said.

The government has further said that the policy is not applicable to persons engaged in academic arrangements for a fixed term in any department, part-time and contingent paid workers. However, the designated committee shall separately examine the issue of paying reasonable remuneration to contingent paid part-time workers.

As per the report submitted before the Cabinet on October 23, the total number of workers engaged in 31 departments under 15 different categories including casual laborers and seasonal workers has gone up to 100501.
