Another Kashmiri student beaten up in Haryana inside varsity campus

Chandigarh: A Kashmiri student who hails from Sopore area was allegedly beaten up by his fellow students in the Ambala area of Haryana.

The victims is a student of a private university, pursing a course of radiology.

The student, aged around 19 years, was thrashed by the accused in Mullana town in Ambala yesterday after which the university ordered suspension of one of the students.

“The student, who is pursuing an undergraduate course in radiology in the university located in Mullana town (near Ambala) and the other group of students had entered into an argument over some matter earlier,” SHO, Mullana Police Station, Inspector Rajesh Kumar told Press Trust of India.

The student from Kashmir sustained minor injury on his nose while the main accused suffered some scratches on his back, he said.

Kumar said the university administration had ordered the suspension of one of the youths allegedly involved in the incident.

Recently, a mob of around 10-15 men allegedly assaulted two Kashmiri youths studying at the Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh.

At around 2:30pm, Aftab and Amjad were returning to campus after Friday prayers when they were beaten up by the mob. According to students, they were leaving the mosque when a group of men started following them. Shocked and confused by the sudden attack, the students looked around for help but people just stood there and watched.

The victims suffered several injuries and were rushed to a local government hospital for treatment.

The Opposition had cornered the government in the Legislative Assembly after alleging that they have failed to protect students who are living or staying outside the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had demanded a probe into the incident. After her demand, Haryana police arrested 3 people on for allegedly assaulting two Kashmiri students in Mahendargarh district.
