Journalist who protested Modi’s Canada visit part of Trudeau delegation

New Delhi: After the row issuance of visa to convicted Khalistani activist Jaspal Atwal, a Canadian journalist who had protested Narendra Modi’s 2015 visit to Canada, is also the part of the visiting Trudeau delegation, reported the Indian Express.

In 2015 Manvir Singh Saini’s pictures holding banners that said, “Modi is a Terrorist”, “Modi you are not welcome in Canada” and “India out of Khalistan” with Air India One in the background had gone viral during Modi’s state visit to Canada.

Saini also attended a formal event hosted by High Commissioner of Canada in India, Nadir Patel, in New Delhi Thursday. He is also expected to be part of the media delegation when Trudeau meets Modi on Friday.

Earlier, Ministry of Home Affairs, had ordered a probe took into Jaspal Atwal, a Khalistani, who was issued a visa. The row created forced the High Commissioner of Canada to cancel the dinner invitation extended to him.

Saini confirmed to the Indian Express that he was part of Trudeau’s media delegation and was attending the event hosted by Canadian High Commissioner. Saini declined to comment on the pictures that went viral in 2015.
