New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on the sixth day of his visit to India, received Narendra Modi’s ‘bear hug’ at the ceremonial welcome in Delhi’s Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The two leaders will have a bilateral meeting and they are expected to focus on trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, space, tackling climate change energy and education.

Trudeau’s first visit to India has been marred by talks of a ‘snub’ on the account of the Canadian government’s perceived soft approach to Sikh extremists demanding Khalistan.
Moreover, the invite to a convicted Khalistani to official Trudeau events had created a stir. However, the invite has been withdrawn.

After the ceremonial reception, Trudeau met the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj amid the row which was created by the dinner invitation sent to the convicted Khalistan activist Jaspal Atwal. However after a huge row, the dinner invite was revoked.
