Kathua rape and murder: Employees will launch agitation if culprits not punished, says EJCC

Srinagar: Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) Saturday appealed State Government to redress all the problems faced by employees in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing press conference, EJCC spokesperson Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that government has miserably failed. He said that the brutal and heinous crime has shocked and shaken the conscious of every human bring.

“We have a close eye on the developments. We will launch state wide intense agitation in case justice is delayed, or denied in this brutal rape and murder case of a minor,” he added.

Khan said that they have also taken up the issue of employees with government whose services were terminated on the grounds of anti-national activities during 2016 unrest.

Earlier Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani had lashed out at chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for her ‘criminal silence’ over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua and said that efforts by the ruling dispensation to shield and to give cover to the real culprits is the biggest irony.

“We have no doubt that the so-called alliance is being run from Nagpur,” said Geelani in a statement.

The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on had expressed ‘shock’ over the rally taken out by the Hindu Ekta Munch in support of the accused arrested in the rape and murder of the minor Kathua girl.

She also added that that by raising the tricolour in the rally, they have ‘desecrated’ it.
