Fazili was a passionate warrior, very close to me, says Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday said that Eesa Fazili was a ‘passionate warrior’, who was very close to him. Geelani also paid rich tributes to Syed Owais Shafi and Sabzar Ahmed, the other two militants who were killed in the Hakura gun fight.

“Esa Fazili was very close to me, a passionate warrior and often visited my residence. His commitment towards freedom mission was exemplary and served as a moral precedence. He was very thoughtful about the prevailing situation and his commitment with his mission was praiseworthy, Geelani said in a statement.

Recalling his meetings with Fazili, Geelani said that ‘he often discussed the post Burhan scenario and continuous blood-shed, plight of maimed pellet victims, ransacking of properties, detention of youth in torture centres and excesses perpetrated by forces gave him sleepless nights.’

“This proved a turning point for him and he joined the resistance movement and embraced martyrdom,” Geelani added in the statement.

The Octogenarian leader, while referring to pro-India parties, also mentioned that people should boycott ‘chameleons and turn coats’, who for the lust of power are ‘bartering the blood of our youth.’

“We are duty bound to disassociate from those who since past seven decades are involved in genocide,” said Geelani.

Commenting over the prevailing appalling situations, Geelani said that authorities in New Delhi are desperate to enforce their will and weaken our just and genuine freedom movement and as such we have to be cautious, remain united and adopt the “spirit of persistence” in pursuit of cherished goal.

Geelani cautioned people about the deceit being played by India and its agencies saying, “pro-freedom leaders are being denied their political space and accused forces of “mercilessly killing innocents and added that Indian authorities are once again raising Ikhwan like renegade groups to harass pro-freedom leadership.’
