Khonmoh gunfight: Two militants of Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind killed, say Police

Srinagar: Two militants who attacked a BJP leader on Thursday and were caught in a gun fight with the forces in Khonmoh, were killed and have been identified.

According to the cops, Owais Ahmad of Nowdal Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanzipora Awantipora belonged to Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind militant outfit.

The bodies have been handed over to the families of the slain militants.

In the gun fight, two houses have been damaged. Meanwhile, in their respective native places, Tral and Avantipora, clashes have erupted.

Meanwhile, in Hajin town of Bandipora district, militants managed to escape after a brief exchange of fire with the government forces.

Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, 45 BN Central Reserve Police Force and Army’s 13 RR unit cordoned off Khos Mohalla of Hajin town after ‘specific inputs’ about the presence of 2-3 LeT militants in a residential house around 3 am.

During the search operation, the forces and the militants were engaged in a gun fight and were successful in escaping from the spot.

As soon as the cordon was over, clashes erupted as youth took to streets.
