Shopian killings aftermath: New Delhi has become a ‘man eater’, says Rashid

Srinagar: In the aftermath of the Shopian killings, the Awami Ittehad Party chief Engineer Rashid while leading a protest march in Srinagar, has called New Delhi a ‘man eater’.

Leading a protest rally from Regal Chowk to Press Enclave, Rashid said that the valley-wide shutdown against the killings of civilians and militants is the proof about the support which militants enjoy in the Valley.

The Joint Resistance Leadership had called for a two day shutdown in wake of the killings.

“New Delhi has become an Aadam Khor (man-eater). However, unless they resolve the Kashmir issue through right to self-determination resistance won’t die down,” Rashid said.

After the protest march, the members of AIP during a sit in at the Press Enclave raised slogans against the New Delhi government.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across the valley. The newly appointed chief of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has been placed under house arrest. Earlier JKLF Chief Mohammad Yasin Malik was deatined and lodged in Kothi Bagh police station.

Mobile internet continues to remain suspended for the second consecutive day.
