Srinagar: Miirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that Kashmir belongs to its people and is no one’s integral part.
Before being detained by the police, Mirwaiz also reiterated that it’s a dispute which can only be settled through Right to Self Determination.
“Let me tell them that Kashmir is no one’s integral part. It belongs to the people of Kashmir. It is our fundamental right to decide our future and destiny,” said Mirwaiz while adding that status quo maintained on Kashmir is pushing educated youth to pick up arms.
Mirwaiz was detained after he tried to defy his house arrest to move towards Shopian. The Joint Resistance Leadership had called for a March towards Shopian in order to express solidarity with the bereaved families whose loved ones were killed during the Shopian gunfights on Sunday.
“No amount of might will break our resolve. Nor will propaganda, lies and fake narratives. Kashmir was and is a dispute that has to be resolved through right to self determination,’ Mirwaiz asserted.
Lashing out at pro-India political parties Mirwaiz pointed out that their ‘lust for power made them repeatedly compromise the interests of Kashmiris.
“Today we have come to a stage where our fourth generation from 1947 is paying the price of their lust with its blood,” Mirwaiz said.
