Pakistan is the voice of Kashmiris at the UN, says Maleeha Lodhi

Maleeha Lodhi, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan in the United Nations on Saturday said that her country’s mission is to be the voice of Kashmiris at the UN, said a report in the Geo News.

“We are the voice of the Kashmiri people in UN and are fighting their case [at an international level].”

Lodhi asserted that ‘Indian atrocity’ has crossed all limits in ‘Occupied Kashmir’.

“They [Indian troops] even fire on funerals and have injured countless children. The recent wave of anger and resistance in Kashmir has been unprecedented and will bear fruit, she added.

Lodhi added that the UN General Secretary has also shown concern over the situation however she added that it should be turned into action.

“This concern should be converted into decisive action. The right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination should be granted to them.”

Pakistan on Friday observed ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ to protest the recent killings in Shopian district of the valley.

On Thursday, after three days educational institutions were thrown open in however the valley saw a wave of student protests.

Abbasi recently, said that the ‘brutal crackdown’ on civilians protesting against the killings in Shopian was deplorable. The Pakistan premier also said that his country stands with Kashmiris struggle for Right to Self Determination.

The Pakistani cabinet also decided to send special envoys to selected capitals to highlight the deteriorating situation in Kashmir.

Moreover, Pakistani cricket star Shahid Afridi, who has  a huge fan following all over the world, in a tweetsaid that that innocents in Kashmir are being killed to suppress the voice of self determination and independence.
