JK Cabinet reshuffle: Speaker Gupta to be the new Deputy CM, PDP to induct two new faces

In the much anticipated cabinet reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir, the State BJP President Sat Sharma and the current speaker Kavinder Gupta are the new faces which would be inducted in the state cabinet.

After a meeting with the BJP National President Amit Shah, the present speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta is likely to the next Deputy CM of the state.

Nirmal Singh, the incumbent Deputy, who was axed in a late night development on Sunday, was considered very close to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

“I resigned to pave the way for a new face,” Singh said.

Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra will administer the oath of office and secrecy to those being inducted into the council of ministers at the convention centre at 12 noon. The cabinet rejig was long overdue. Sunil Kumar Sharma presently MoS is likely to be made cabinet minister.

On the other hand, the Peoples Democratic Party is also heading for changes. According to sources two new faces will be elevated to the cabinet.

While party has cleared name of senior MLA from Pulwama Muhammad Khaleel Band for his induction as cabinet minister, MLA Sonwar Muhammad Ashraf Mir will make a comeback in the government, a source said.

Moreover, the incumbent Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan is likely to be dropped from the cabinet.
