Srinagar: Reacting over killing spree in Kashmir, ruling People’s Democratic Party, on Monday said that there is no substitute to dialogue and very soon the main points of Agenda of Alliance will be implemented in letter and spirit.

“The Agenda of Alliance (AoA) formulated by PDP and BJP is a clear-cut document without any ambiguity. It has been clearly mentioned in the AoA that they have to talk not only to Hurriyat leaders but also to Pakistan. It will be in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir to implement this AoA on ground,” PDP Spokesperson, Dr Mehboob Beigh said.

When asked that BJP has virtually back tracked and is in mood to implement AoA, Mehboob Beigh said that it is a formal agreement and BJP has no option but to implement it along with PDP. “How can they (BJP) backtrack. It will dent our reputation and credibility. Sooner or later, they have to start a dialogue process with Hurriyat Conference and Pakistan,” he said.

When asked why PDP has taken so much time in starting a dialogue with Hurriyat Conference, Mehboob Beigh said the fault lies with Hurriyat. “The representatives of 1.25 Crore people of India knocked at the doors of Syed Ali Geelani. These representatives were humiliated and driven back. Leave aside BJP, we have to think whether Hurriyat is ready for a dialogue or not,” Beigh said.

He said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been trying her best to stop killings in Kashmir. “In her every meeting with Prime Minister and Home Minister of India she has been advocating peace and dialogue and even in Unified Command meeting she has been directing Forces to exercise restraint and avoid collateral damage.”

When asked if the Chief Minister is advocating dialogue with Prime Minister and Home, why on ground no dialogue has been happening, Mehboob Beigh said sooner or later dialogue will take place.
