Kashmir Chamber’s march towards Civil Secretariat foiled by police

Kashmir’s premiere traders’ body Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday tried to march towards the civil secretariat to the protest the killings in Kashmir.

However, the police stopped the rallying traders at Abiguzar.

The rally was organized in response to the call of Joint Resistance Leadership asking people to march towards secretariat on its opening day. The protesters raised held banners and marched peacefully.

The KCCI said, “the situation in Kashmir is very grim and serious and needs to be handled very delicately. As of now its being grossly mishandled.”

On Sunday, KCCI in a statement had said that they are overwhelmed by the fact that people getting killed in double figures every day which has made the situation worse in Kashmir .

“It is high time that the government of India stops these killings forthwith. We have been on record months before in our representation to the government that the only way is negotiating with all stakeholders for peaceful settlement of Kashmir without any preconditions,” said Javed Ahmed Tenga, President of the KCCI in a statement.

Earlier today, Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation led by their President Mohammad Yaseen Khan, tried to march towards the civil secretariat to the protest the killings which took place on Sunday in Shopian. However, the police stopped them at Residency road.

The protesters raised pro-justice slogans and held banners which read “Down with state terrorism”, “Stop genocide of Kashmiris” and “Stop innocent killings in the name of operation all-out”.

As the Durbar opened amid an internet blockade in the valley, Mehbooba Mufti, after receiving the traditional guard of honour, while reacting to the killings said, “Allah has sent us to Earth to live a good life. Islam doesn’t permit us to embrace death at this [young] age.”
