Shutdown to continue against ‘genocide and bloodbath’ of Kashmiris, says Joint Resistance

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Monday said that the shutdown against the Shopian bloodbath will continue on Tuesday across Kashmir.

The JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik asked the people to observe a complete shutdown against the ‘genocide and bloodbath’ of Kashmiris for the third straight day.

Meanwhile, strongly condemning the government’s decision of foiling the protest marches of lawyers, traders, and employees towards the civil secretariat, the JRL said imposition of curfew in the entire downtown and caging the entire resistance leadership reflects “frustration and acceptance of defeat by the government.”

JRL said that arresting resistance leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mukhtar Waza, Gulzar Ahmed , Hilal War, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, and others is highly condemnable and that the move can’t force the resistance camp into submission and instead further strengthen their resolve to raise voices against the ultimate repression.

On Monday, the Resistance Leaders had called for a march towards the Civil Secretariat as the government resumed office in Srinagar after a six month sojourn in Jammu.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) while condemning the killings had said that as the ‘Durbar of our killers opens in Srinagar, people from all walks will move towards the civil secretariat and will sit in a peaceful dharna till the daily carnage is not stopped.”
