Nirmal Singh likely to be next speaker of JK Assembly

Srinagar: A short session of the state assembly will begin on Thursday at 2.00 pm exclusively for the election of new speaker of the assembly.

Informed sources told KNS  that former Deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh is likely to be elected new Speaker as PDP-BJP coalition has almost decided to field him as their candidate.

Sources also said that the opposition is unlikely to field its candidate against Singh keeping in view the numerical strength of PDP-BJP in the house of 89 members.  Singh’s election as new speaker assembly is almost a foregone conclusion.

He will replace Kavinder Gupta who was recently inducted into the state cabinet as Deputy Chief Minister in place of Nirmal Singh.
