JKLF Chief Yasin Malik was arrested soon after he attended a meeting of the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) at Syed Ali Geelani’s residence in Hyderpora.

“On one hand, Delhi and its supporters here announce ceasefire and state that let people observe Ramzan peacefully, and on the other resistance leaders are being arrested on the very first day of Ramzan,”Malik told reporters before the cops took him away.

JRL has called for protests after Friday prayers tomorrow as a mark of solidarity with the Palestinians. They have also appealed to the “freedom-loving people” to march to the historic Lal Chowk on Saturday against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kashmir visit.

On Wednesday, the Government of India said that the armed forces will not launch operations during the holy month. However, the ministry of Home Affairs added that the forces reserve the ‘right to retaliate or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people.’

The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the ceasefire and thanked Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Modi for their personal intervention.

However Al Umar Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba have rejected the Ramzan ceasefire initiative.
