Police lodges FIR against Lal Singh’s brother for using abusive language against Mehbooba

Srinagar: Taking strong notice of the abusive language used against Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti by brother of former minister and BJP leader Chowdhary Lal Singh, the State police has decided to lodge FIR against him.

A video which has gone viral in which Chowdhary Jitender Singh is seen using shameful and vulgar language against the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti during a protest in support of Kathua rape accused on Sunday in Jammu.

Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the police has taken strong cognizance of the act and has decided to lodge the FIR against the former minister’s brother. DGP added that he has personally directed the concerned SSP to lodge an FIR immediately. In the meantime unconfirmed reports suggested that police may arrest the accused however there was no official confirmation to it.

In the video, Singh can been seen using derogatory language against Mehbooba in front a reciprocating crowd. Many in the crowd can been seen carrying the tricolour.

Former chief minister Omar Abdullah, in a tweet said that legal action should be taken against Singh.
