Indo-Pak flare up reaches Line of Control as both trade fire in Uri

As five more civilians were killed and 54 wounded, India and Pakistan now traded fire along the Line of Control in Uri region of Baramulla district last night.

An official said that Pakistan army violated ceasefire around 9:55 pm by resorting to fire from automatic weapons and shelling in Kamalkote area. The shelling continued till 12:30 am, he said. The official said that several army posts were fired at by the Pakistani army. He said that Indian army retaliated to the fire.

However, there was no immediate report of any loss of life or the property on either side.

On Wednesday, amid war-like situation on the International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts as cross border shelling continues, over a 40,ooo villagers have been forced to migrate.

On Tuesday, 24 border posts were targeted in which 18 civilians were injured and BSF trooper was killed. Three civilians are said to be critical.

Recently, after the latest flare up along the border in Jammu, Indian and Pakistani armies in a telephonic conversation agreed to maintain peace however, both continue to trade heavy fire along the International Border (IB) which has now reached the Line of Control.
