As forest fire rages in Kupwara, locals say no official from the department has come to the spot

DFO says ‘team on spot’

Kupwara: While the fire is raging in several compartments of the Hyhama forests in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district the authorities of forest department are yet to reach the area to douse the flames.

According to correspondent Fayaz Hamid, fire engulfed compartment number 82 of Manigah area of Hyhama forests two days back the forest officials are yet to reach the area to douse the flames panicking the civilian populations close to the forest area.

However when contacted DFO Kamraj forest division Mehboob Ali said, “our team is on the spot to douse the flames and hope the fire will be brought under control in short time.”

Refuting the claims of the DFO forest Kamraj forest division Mehbooba Ali, the locals said no team is on spot and infact not even a single official from the forest department has come to the area to help locals in dousing the flames.
